We believe that the development of moral capacities in our children is of fundamental importance not only to their own happiness but also to the advancement of humanity as a whole.
Providing spiritual education of children has long been an element of the culture of the Baha’i community. We hold regular children's classes that are open to all children, subject to parental approval, in neighbourhoods across Australia.
Baha’i children’s classes aim to nurture the hearts and minds of children. The emphasis is on helping children learn to reflect on and apply spiritual principles, such as love, unity and justice, to their own lives and to the lives of those around them.
Based on the teachings of Baha’u’llah, the Founder of the Baha’i Faith, the classes seek to inspire in children a love of God and His Messengers, and of humanity in all its diversity.
The classes include short lessons, activities to build friendship, games, stories, art and music.

See below for lesson plans on the Baha'i Faith that are suitable for use by primary school teachers.
Baha’i education in state schools
In some states, we provide Baha’i education classes in public primary schools under the “Special Religious Education” or “Scripture” program.
Students from any religious background are welcome to attend (with their parents’ permission) and many currently do.
The classes assist children to develop their spiritual nature, complementing the material and physical education provided by schools.
Based on the teachings of Baha’u’llah, the classes emphasise the development of spiritual attributes or virtues and attempt to foster in students the knowledge, skills, understandings and values required to be world citizens. Students are encouraged to embrace the oneness of humankind in all its diversity.
The classes include short lessons, games, stories, art and music.
All Baha’i children’s classes are taught by volunteer local teachers who are certified under the Baha’i Child Protection Policy, which includes a mandatory police check. Parents are welcome to sit in on the classes or to meet with the teachers at any time.
